Over the years I have developed a plan that keeps people informed while moving the institution forward at record paces. It is called a strategic action plan. Too many times plans are made only to sit on a shelf and collect dust until it is time to make a new plan. At which time it is taken down and dusted off.
The plan accomplishes the following. They are:
Helps set the culture
Creates plans
Gets all on the same page
Builds dynamic teams
Helps all see the whole picture
Helps things run smoothly
Keeps track of the details
Brings people together for the common good
Celebrates success
Successful leaders do not get paralyzed by perfection. Instead, they understand the adaption in actions beats the best laid plans that sit and gather dust.

Within this framework there are key areas that are needed for success. This template or slightly modified can work for meeting minutes, strategic planning, short term and long term goals, executive leadership retreats and training as well as board retreats and training.
The model is most effective when all employees and stakeholders are incorporated into the overall planning and implementation.
